Spring Style Show celebrates Bridgewood Farms models in patriotic fashion
 

What an exciting meeting at this week’s Conroe Noon Lions Club!  Lions, Sandy Apostolo, Sharene Carr, Gail Cain, and Tiffany Iadarola put together the annual Spring Style Show hosting the residents of Bridgewood Farms.  

 
With the help of Randy Doleman, Director of Bridgewood Farms, along with Pam Jones, and Miosha Sanders, eight models graced the runway in the latest stylist Americana dress from many of their favorite local clothing stores. The theme of the show was ‘Red, White & Blue’ in honor of the United States Armed Services and each model represented one of our military branches.
Bridgewood Farms is a local nonprofit created in 1967 to provide housing and day care activities for intellectual and developmentally disabled teens and adults in Montgomery County.  The services include educational and skills-building activities that enhance the client’s abilities to live more independently. 
 
The highlight of the show was when each model received a handshake from this year’s CNLC Hometown Military Hero, Sgt. Avery Kilgo, U.S.M.C., an active-duty marine.  Sgt. Kilgo is stationed in Hawaii and came home on leave to accept the award which is given annually to a service member belonging to a local family. Sgt. Kilgo was presented with a large, customized American Flag, tagged with U.S.M.C. and his name on it, by local artist and Lion Mike Bartlett.  Congratulations Sgt. Kilgo!  Thank you for your service!

Lions are having a Wild West Shootout this month — but it’s not what you think!  On Thursday, May 22nd at the Walden Golf Course, we will field foursomes with two “shotgun” starts at 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.  This is our big fundraising golf tournament which helps to fund scholarships and other important work that we do in the community.  It is a most worthy cause.  To sign up to play, please go to the Conroe Noon Lions’ website at www.conroenoonlions.org!  It’ll be a blast with door prizes, goodie bags and other awards and honors.  See you there!

A group of Conroe Noon Lions Club members made their way to Kerrville last weekend for a Work Weekend at the Texas Lions Camp.   There were repairs to the barn, horse tack to clean, equipment to make ready for all the many children that will enjoy FREE camping sessions this summer.   If you have or know of a child with a physical disability, diabetes, or Downs syndrome, visit the camp website at www.lionscamp.com.  We hear there are some sessions still open for registration. 

Lions are all about vision.  Our next Vision Screening event will take place on May 19th at the Community Assistance Center from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Referrals must register with the Community Assistance Center for scheduling.  Lion volunteers should contact Connie Engle to get involved.
