CNLC Trade Show addresses club's fundraising and various programs
Howdy to All! Our lovely President Tracy Irvine called our meeting to order, showing off her bright new Lions shirt from her trip to the USA/Canada Forum in Atlantic City. We always start off with mingling and greeting our fellow Lions and guests. We were then called to sing ‘God Bless America’ followed by the pledges to both the US and Texas flags. Then I had the privilege to lead us in the invocation.
Our announcements started with a BIG announcement from Lion Philip Dupuis about annual Clay Shoot coming up this Saturday, Oct. 4th at Blackwood Gun Club. He reminded all those with a good aim to get their teams turned in, buy their gun raffle tickets, and to be sure and sign up to volunteer. Other announcements included our ‘Fall into Focus’ event at the eyeglass recycling center; volunteers are needed for our Pre-school Vision Screenings taking place during the month of October. Plus, we are in the search for a ‘Hometown Military Hero’ to honor this club year and the deadline is September 30th.
Speaking of committees, they presented our program; it was a ‘CNLC Trade Show’ showcasing all our fundraising, social, service, and charity programs. To start the show our Ringmaster VP Andrew Perry, ushered in two of his favorite Lions Bryan Rennell & Warner Phelps with a snap of the whip; reminding members they would be at the back doors it collect fines for those who tried to sneak out. Tables were set up around the room, all decorated in various styles highlighting their activities; like sno-cones at the Reaves table, a putting green at the Golf table, and our Vision table was doing eye screenings. The committee chairs manned the tables providing information and details along with enticing club members to volunteer for their project. To keep the fun going, every 5-minutes prizes were awarded from the buckets at each table. The fellowship and camaraderie among the veteran and young club members warmed my heart.
We, as a club, are so very thankful to all our Lion members who volunteer their time and energy to participate in our efforts to serve our community. These volunteers include members from all walks of life and that is why we are called ‘the greatest Lion Club in the world.’
After serving 50 years as both a Lioness and Lion, I could go on & on about the many rewarding experiences I’ve had with the wonderful club. But I don’t have the time or the space, so may I instead invite you to join us and learn more about the Conroe Noon Lions Club.
