While the meeting centered heavily on club business, there were still plenty of opportunities to celebrate the people who make the Conroe Noon Lions Club successful. Members took time to recognize the many committee members and volunteers who helped make another successful concession stand possible during the 2026 Montgomery County Fair. As always, the fair concession stand requires countless volunteer hours, coordination, and teamwork from Lions throughout the club. From setup and scheduling to cooking, serving, and cleanup, it truly takes a team effort to make it all happen. The funds raised through projects like the fair allow the club to continue supporting local programs, scholarships, vision assistance, youth initiatives, and local partnerships throughout the year.
A special moment during the meeting was set aside to thank and say goodbye to Abbey, one of the longtime waitresses at the convention center who has served the club during weekly meetings. Her kindness, hard work, and familiar smile became part of the Wednesday routine for many Lions, and members wished her the very best as she moves on to new opportunities.
As the temps heat up outside, I can’t help but think of summer and you know what summer means. Texas Lions Camp, a program that remains very close to the hearts of Lions across Texas. Texas Lions Camp provides life-changing summer camp experiences for children with physical disabilities, diabetes, and special medical conditions, all at no cost to the families. Despite recent statewide delays and challenges involving new camp licensing requirements under Texas law, camp leadership continues working diligently with state officials to prepare for another safe and impactful summer.
In a recent statement, Texas Lions Camp President and CEO Stephen S. Mabry shared encouraging words with supporters and camper families, saying, “It will be with excitement that I bring you news of our licensure and the many new improvements and next-level systems that have been added to the TLC lineup and offerings.”
The Conroe Noon Lions Club remains excited and committed to supporting Texas Lions Camp and sponsoring local children who will benefit from this incredible experience. For many campers, Texas Lions Camp is far more than just a week away from home — it is a place where children build confidence, independence, friendships, and lifelong memories in an environment designed specifically for their needs.
As always, the Conroe Noon Lions Club is grateful for every member, volunteer, and community partner who help make our mission possible. Together, we continue working to serve our area and make a difference one project, one partnership, and one child at a time.
