Conroe Noon Lions are gearing up for an action-packed fall season of events, service projects and our annual Community Partnership drive.  The generosity of our Community Partners provides the basis for Lions to greatly amplify the value to our community by countless hours of service every year. 
 
 
First Vice President Sharene Carr urged everyone to stay energized for our Community Partners to “Sign Up” new partners, “Re-Up” our faithful partners, and “Level Up” partners who want to make a greater investment with a higher level of support and recognition.  She further motivated everyone with a one-week sales contest for Lions who sale or bring in partnerships to be in a gift card drawing.  The deadline for Community Partnership enrollment is Sept. 1, so everyone is encouraged to get energized for this great, mission-essential drive. 
 
Past President Bobby Brennan announced our Service Saturday programs and encouraged everyone to “get back to our roots” and submit projects helping those in our community who, due to age or disability, might need help with much needed “fix up or repair” projects.  Lions could come make all the difference with a day of work, fellowship and fun to help these “neighbors”.

3rd Vice President Andrew Perry and Shelia Thomas introduced two Texas Lions Camp 2025 participants to tell us about their experiences.  Zach and James were sponsored by Lion Amanda Anders, and they were full of smiles when telling us about their great camp adventures.  Zach especially loved the swimming program in the huge pool specially equipped for physically challenged kids.  He also loved riding his horse named “Shaz”.  James love fishing and proudly reported catching a 2 1/2-foot-long fish!  He also really loved riding and time spent with his horse “Monster”.  These two delightful youngsters beamed their smiles for all to enjoy, and they can’t wait to go back to Texas Lions Camp next year!

2nd Vice President Jake Freeman made a great fisherman’s entry by rolling into the meeting while reeling in a “big fish” played by Lion Ethan Edwards.  Jake encouraged everyone to invite special needs kids they know to sign up for ”kids on the lake” on Saturday, Sept. 13th.  We can all do our best to give them the “best day of their life” fishing, playing games, hayrides and enjoying a yummy picnic lunch.  The deadline for kids’ signups is Wednesday, Sep 10 and Lions can sign up to volunteer in the newsletter.  This is one of the favorite events for many Lions as we bring smiles to these kids’ faces. 

Our featured speaker was Mr. Billy Sides, Vice President and Fraud Investigations Manager for First Financial Bank.   He spoke on the risks of financial exploitation of innocent people who may not suspect the many ways criminals can exploit unsuspected victims.  Senior Citizens are especially vulnerable and even more so during times after a recent passing of a spouse or family member when these predators take advantage of them.  He made the point that family members need to support seniors during those vulnerable times and keep an eye on their transactions.  He also warned of text messages or e-mails directing people to click on a link.  He clearly stated “Do Not Click” since it often gives access to one’s computer for the thief to exploit.  His final reminder, never give out a password, never give out an account number.
