Greetings to all Lions and readers. It’s already been a full year since you last heard from me. Time sure flies by when you’re having fun. Speaking of fun, Conroe Noon Lions are ramping up for a multitude of fall programs and events. Remember, “we are the greatest Lions Club in the world.” 
 
 
Our meeting this past Wednesday was a good one. Lion President, Tracy Irvine, hit the gong, I mean bell and announced, “stand and greet your neighbor.” It’s not a difficult ask to get Lions to circulate and be social, but to get them back in order is a challenge. Kudos to the pres. I like to mention all the Lions who led us with our opening songs, pledges, introductions, and prayer- thank you Lions Dan Grimes, Bill Fowler, Mark Jefferson, Charlie Irvine, Wayne Mack, and Zak Stephens. Door prizes? Yep, Lions live for door prizes. Thank you to Lion Sheila Thomas for her donation; and Lion Virginia Clement for not one, but two loaves of banana-nut bread. 
 

We recognized Lion Nicole Pettet as June - Lion of the Month for work at Service Saturdays.  Way to go Nicole! Speaking of Service Saturdays, Lion Hannah Medley announced our next one is August 9 at Reaves Elementary, our adopted school, to help prep classrooms, sort school supplies, and assemble teacher gift bags. Lions Madi and Andrew Perry requested Lions write a note of encouragement on cool school post cards for the teachers. Lion Helen Thornton is leading the collection of school supplies for Reaves. Remember the deadline to drop off your supplies is August 6th.  Lastly, Lion Bobby Brennan announced that Lions donated twenty-five units at the recent blood drive. 

Mr. Chad Patterson presented a program on the principles of his book- Leadership H.E.A.R.T. Unleashed. I, and many of our Lions, know him as Chad. He is a home-grown Conroe man who now lives in the piney woods of east Texas. For over twenty-five years he has guided leaders to develop their core values, personally and professionally.  Let’s talk about each of the letters and what they stand for. The H is for Humility, the cornerstone of character. “When we align our character, actions, and behaviors upon our foundation of core values, incredible things happen for all those we love, serve, and lead. The E is for Engaged. “The power of being fully engaged in all dimensions of our lives is where we begin to experience life to the fullest.” The A is for Attitude. “Our attitude enters the room before we even say a word. Chad offers a quote by John Maxwell in his book- “people may hear your words, but they feel your attitude.” The R is for Results. Chad sums it up with the “Law of OAR- ownership and accountability drive results.” The T is for Today Matters. “There’s hero stuff within you. I dare you to unleash it. We all have room to grow and get better. Not another time. But right now. Today. Not someday. Remember, someday is today!” Chad got me all revved up, and then again when I read his book (available on Amazon). Gratitude and thanks to Mr. Chad Patterson for sharing and enlightening our club.
